My Morning Routine

I’ve always been a morning person, so mornings are my favorite part of day. It’s when I feel most active and alert, in anticipation of the day ahead. Back in school, my mornings used to be hectic and I’d be running around the house scrambling, grabbing things as I went, and eating breakfast on the go. But now that I operate on my own schedule, I ease into my mornings with calm. I get to do the things I want and need to do, which mostly involves taking care of myself, R, and our home. I take comfort in my morning routine as it helps set the tone for the rest of my day which I try to make the most of, everyday. So here’s what my current typical morning routine is like. When it comes to electronics, I live by one simple philosophy: I have what I use and use what I have. On top of the unnecessary spending, I absolutely hate accumulating things in the name of accumulating things. With the exception of shoes, maybe. Ha! But even then I’d make sure to get plenty of wear out of them instead of just having them around. The same thinking applies to my dental care. I’ve used traditional toothbrushes all my life, up until about a couple of years ago. When my parents and brother started using the electric brush, they suggested I do the same, telling me that it made such a difference. I wasn’t convinced. The traditional brush has worked for me all this time, and I didn’t see the point in spending the extra money for a simple tool to clean my teeth. Plus I really didn’t mind the arm workout. Living in a new place always feels like a fresh start. For R and me, moving into our first home together was a big deal. We love having our own space, especially since we renovated and designed it ourselves. And while we never officially sat down to go over rules of the house, there are several habits we try to follow that help keep our space clutter-free. 1. Keep countertops clear and clutter-free. Living in a limited space like an apartment, we’re compelled to be smart and creative about storage space. First, we didn’t bring absolutely everything we own to our new place, just things we would need and use on a regular basis. Second, we try to use up every nook and slot we can fit our stuff into, allowing for clear desk and countertops. 2. Put things back immediately. Organize Your T-Shirts in 4 Simple Steps

I’m generally not a big T-shirt person. But even so, I’ve accumulated quite a number over the years. And when I have a collection of something—anything—I find ways to keep it organized, visible, and accessible. My latest current favorite t-shirt storage method is easy, effective, and unbelievably space-saving! All you’re going to need is about 15 minutes (really depends on the size of your t-shirt collection) and your two hands. Let’s get started! 1. First, empty out drawers. You’ll want to start with clean, empty drawers. Whatever mess you made earlier, toss it out of the drawers! And if you’re feeling it, toss it over your shoulders! Feels good, doesn’t it? 2. Fold t-shirts into a small rectangle. Step 1: Fold length-wise and lay on a flat surface (the floor will do). Step 2: Fold sleeves inward. Step 3: Fold width-wise. How to Keep Fruits and Veggies Fresh

Feel bad every time you have throw away your fruits and vegetables because you forgot about them? How can you keep your bananas from quickly turning bad? Fruits and veggies are perishables and need extra care when stored. Here’s a list of tips and tricks on how to care for your fruits and veggies! F R U I T S APPLES Store on a cool counter or shelf for up to 2 weeks. For longer storage, place in a cardboard box in the fridge. APRICOTS Store on a cool counter in room temperature or fridge if fully ripe. BANANAS Take your bananas apart when you get home from the store. If you leave them connected at the stem, they ripen faster. Keep them on the counter, or in a basket with holes or openings to allow air to circulate. BERRIES Berries are fragile.
