What do I love more than Mexican food? Leftover Mexican food. There’s just something–a particular charm–about reheated beans, jumbled with some ground beef, tortilla wrap, a hint of guac, salsa, and a load of melted cheese. Fortunately for me, my family is crazy about Mexican food, especially my mom. So weekly (and guiltlessly), we rotate among Amigos, Caliente, and Taco Local. And there’s always some leftovers off my mom’s plate, thank you.

I like going to Amigos on Friday nights–during Salsa Night. The restaurant, including the mezzanine, is packed with folks sipping Margaritas and dancing away. The music is loud and fun, as are the musicians and pretty much everyone there. I just had my first Salsa lesson last week, so I don’t yet think it’s appropriate for me to jump in. But hopefully soon. As for now, I absolutely enjoy being a spectator and bobbing my head to the music.

As you will see, most dishes are prepared in a similar way topped with either guac, salsa, cheese, sour cream, or the mix, and served with a side of dirty rice and beans. They even taste alike too. I’ve had a taste of their burritos, tacos, enchiladas, but my ultimate favorite is their Chimichanga. It’s like the burrito, only 10 times more awesome because it’s fried!

So, if you can’t decide whether to go for the taco, enchilada, or burrito, just think about whether you want something on the dry side (taco), a little moist (burrito), very moist (enchilada), or crispy fried (chimichanga). And obviously, there are also other menu items you can choose from. As for the meat choice, I recommend the ground beef over shredded beef or chicken, and definitely over vegetables. Price wise, you are looking at spending around 100K and above per person. As of last Sunday June 2 2013, Amigos is having a special promotion for Danamon credit card holders: buy 1 get 1 free with a minimum of 4 entrée orders. Sweet!

Thanks to the excessive ground beef stuffing in my Chimichanga, I went home a satiated and satisfied eater. If this doesn’t fill you up, I don’t know what will. Enjoy!
