Praise the Lord. It is Christmas season after all. Bacon Be Thy Name. Christmas. Bacon. Christmas and Bacon. Why not? Bacon goes with Christmas. Bacon goes with everything! And what say we but Amen to this neighborhood café dedicated to everyone’s favorite protein?
Baconerie, despite being the new kid on the block, has quickly become a favorite of many. Especially hunters and seekers of pork. And then the rest of the bacon-loving world population. Am I being presumptuous saying that everyone loves bacon? Perhaps. But you know I’m right.
Hosted within The Grove @ Kemang, right by Moe’s Place, Baconerie serves all-day breakfast grub including coffee, scones, cookies, cinnamon buns, pretzels, and sandwiches and burgers, within which their bits of bacon are incorporated.
On a Saturday noon, the place was bustling with locals and expats, diners you can tell are morning people. The atmosphere is casual, so feel free to come in your flip flops and last night’s t-shirt (and hair).
We kicked off our late brunch with a bite of the chocolate orange scone and a sip of lemonade. I’m a fan of scones, as you can tell from my Breakfast Scones for Christmas Morning recipe. With this particular one, although I was delighted to have a taste (and Lord knows I worship the hybrid between orange and chocolate), turned out just okay. I didn’t go crazy over it, it was a tad too salty for my taste.
Tropical Truffle Fries | 60K
Shoestring fries, tropical truffle oil, parmesan
Fries. Cheese. Bacon. Please someone slap my hand before my buttons fall out. No complaints here. Except maybe more cheese, and more bacon please?
Better Breakfast Sandwich | 65K (top left)
Egg Omelette, a choice of ham/bacon, and melted cheddar, toasted brioche buns, side salad.
Since we were all over bacon, we decided to give ham a taste. And we approve!
Mushroom Burger | 90K (top right)
50/50 bacon and beef hamburger patty, demi-glace, shiokoji mushrooms, melted cheese, mayo, toasted brioche buns, side salad.
My favorite. The patty was fatty, savory, and had a tiny bit of pink to it, which of course made all the difference. In hindsight, I would have added a fried egg and extra bacon.
And for our refreshments:
Arnold Palmer | 30K (top left)
Lemonade and house blend ice tea
Citrusade | 35K (top left)
Sparkling lemonade, strawberry lemonade or orangeade
Baconerie Burger | 80K (top right)
50/50 bacon and beef hamburger patty, bacon, special sauce, toasted brioche buns, side salad.
See the bacon pile? I only wish it was an even bigger pile.
Sky-high chocolate cake. You’re mine the next time I’m in.
The great part about Baconerie? It’s minutes away from my home. I’ll be bringing my burger-loving folks over and see how they enjoy it. Next time on the list are the candied bacon, cheese pretzels, and chocolate cake. And that’s a wrap! Amen.
