Here’s one place your visiting friends are sure to appreciate. In addition to totting them to the quick, simple eats at kaki lima stalls around the city, treat them to a unique and elaborate version of Indonesian cuisine. Lara Djonggrang is one of the restaurants managed by Tugu Group who is also behind Samarra, Dapur Babah, and Shanghai Blue.
Ornately decorated, the restaurant serves a variety of Indonesian or more specifically Peranakan/Babah cuisine. The portion is generous and created for a communal meal, the way a family would share a family eating experience together.
Big portions are always a plus in my book, as you probably already know.
Price wise, you are looking at spending in the range of I10-150K per person, which is reasonable.
I highly recommend this restaurant if you’re wanting to entertain foreigner guests, have a social or celebratory gatherings. There are also private dining rooms for which you can request.
