Our first morning in Vientiane and we were so ready for a full day ahead!
But first, some fuel for the tank.
A map in one hand, a monopod in the other, we walked to Pho Zap, which was just a few minutes away from our hotel.
When it comes to pho, we just can’t help ourselves.
Even before entering the restaurant, we were already enticed by a cart load of snacks–some fried chicken, waffles, and grilled corn. However, they must wait.
A bowl of noodle soup cost in the range of 20.000 – 30.000 Kip (USD2.49 – 3.73)–very affordable.
As with most pho/noodle shops, the preparation is swift, which was exactly what we had hoped.
Pho with Meatballs and Brisket (Large) | 25.000 Kip (around USD3)
Yellow Noodle Soup with Meatballs and Brisket | 30.000 Kip (almost USD4)
We enjoyed our noodle soups, and although the broth and overall taste isn’t as rich as that of Pho Hoa, we were unquestionably satisfied. The portions were massive and with a generous heaping of the hot chili oil, we were steadily slurping away. I’d recommend Pho Zap if you’re around the area/city looking for a decent bowl of hot pho.
