The Hive Cafe & Bar

Our first day in Siem Reap, Cambodia!

After checking in to the hotel, we were absolutely ready to fill ourselves up with a real lunch.

The not-so-real lunch prior consisted of airplane food, which actually wasn’t bad, just a little too little.

So we headed for a cafe called The Hive, a little place owned by Australian expats serving Western as well as local Khmer food.

The portions were very generous (can’t complain there), and the juices were amazing! They were bright, fresh, and best of all, sugar-free!

Spending wise, you’re looking at a very affordable range of around $8 – $10. Overall, I’d recommend The Hive if you’re around the Riviera Hotel area. The juices are a must-have!

Happy nibbling! xx

The Hive

Passionate | $2.75
Mango and passion fruit juice.

The Hive

Pizza Margherita | $5
Classic cheese pizza.

According to the menu, their pizzas are personal size pizzas, the perfect size for one person. Yeah, if you are a big guy who plays sports professionally. But, no beef here of course, the more the merrier!

The Hive

Chicken Mango Wrap | $5.50
Chicken, lettuce, sundried tomato, feta, and mayo wrapped in tortilla.

Not a big fan of fruit mixed with meat (sweet with savory), although I love them separately. There was just too much mayo going on in this wrap for me. And too much mayo leads to mayo lips, which nobody likes.

The Hive

Khmer Chicken Curry | $ 3.50

Right off the bat, I wanted a taste of Khmer so I decided to go for a local dish. It was quite good, although the curry flavor was more on the sweet rather than spicy side.

The Hive

Immunity Booster | $2.75
Apple, carrot, and ginger.

To go along with my curry, this Immunity Booster was perfect for a hot day. At first taste, the ginger shocked me a little, but at the end, it was the best part about the juice!

The Hive

Kottu Rotti | $4
A traditional Sri Lankan dish made of a Sri Lankan roti called Godhamba roti mixed with vegetables, egg, and/or meat, and spices. This one was my favorite of all, like eating sliced up roti prata messily blended with a little bit of everything.

The Hive

And of course, a cup of coffee.
