Is your closet due for a revamping?
Wishing you could trade in your old stuff with new frills?
Dreaming of waking up to a completely retailored wardrobe?
If you’re thinking yes, yes, and yes, chances are you are into, if not obsessed with, fashion. And we get you. Sometimes it feels like the world of designer handbags and shoes takes over. What starts out as innocent window-shopping turns into you-can’t-pass-up-on-a-good-bargain purchases. Those bags and shoes are literally dangled in front of our eyes, calling for us to adopt and take them home.
But of course, unless you are Carrie Bradshaw, Rebecca Bloomwood, or impossibly married to the Duke of Cambridge (meaning your name begins with a “Kate” and ends with a “Middleton”), you probably can’t max out your (or your daddy’s or husband’s) credit card every time you “fall in love” with a shoe or bag. So, what do you do? What can you do?
Calm down all you non-Bradshaws, non-Bloomwoods, and non-duchesses – Heirloom Galerie is here to refresh your collection without breaking your bank. At this luxury consignment shop, you can either drop off your pre-loved items or pick up pre-loved items on sale, or both! We’re not making any promises, but don’t be surprised if by the end of it, you’ll leave feeling like a princess.
And because we like sharing new, exciting lifestyle goings-on (and because we are nice), we are keen to give you a preview, along with an EXCLUSIVE INVITATION AND PROMOTION (see below) of Heirloom Galerie! But first, a little about HG and who’s behind it:
Heirloom Galerie was started by two college friends, who first met at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign back in 2005. Upon returning to Jakarta, they challenged themselves to create a platform to make the experience of shopping and consigning luxury items easy.
Who is behind Heirloom Galerie?
KARTIKA, Co-Founder & Marketing Manager
Kartika manages the general affairs at Heirloom Galerie, focusing on Marketing. With the establishment of Heirloom Galerie, she is keen to streamline the shopping and consigning process of the secondary market of designer items in Indonesia. Previously, she worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers in 2011 as part of the Lead Advisory team. Her first stint at the banking industry started in 2007 with Standard Chartered Bank as part of the Credit Analyst team in the Small-and-Medium Enterprises and in 2009, with the Financial Institutions division in New York. Currently, she is also functioning as Marketing Manager at an asset management company in Jakarta. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. In her free time, she likes to plant and read manga.
LEONARD SANTOSO, Co-Founder & Operations Manager
Leonard Santoso is responsible for Heirloom Galerie’s website development and maintenance. Leonard holds a Bachelor and a Master of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineer from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. After graduation, he joined Advanced Micro Devices (“AMD”) in Sunnyvale, California as part of the Research and Development division developing AMD Bulldozer microarchitecture. Upon his return to Indonesia, Leonard observed that most transactions in the luxury fashion industry were happening through either Facebook or Blackberry. He saw this as an opportunity for an online platform to support transactions among fashion activists. Charged up by his love for technology, he decided to collaborate with Kartika on Heirloom Galerie. Outside of work, Leonard enjoys hiking, snowboarding, and scuba diving.
KARINA WIJAYA, Style Contributor
Karina joined Heirloom Galerie as Style Contributor. Her genuine ideas of styling can be found on Heirloom Galerie’s spreads. She is obsessed with fashion, design, and shopping (this includes grocery shopping, although she claims to be a terrible cook). She is currently residing in Silicon Valley, a place often known as the Wall Street for nerds. As such, she is always up-to-date with the latest technology. Her love for design and fashion has landed her a job at Polyvore as Product Designer. Her day-to-day job includes keeping up with the latest fashion and beauty trends (how awesome is that?). Depending on her mood, she can be quirky or classy. But one thing is for sure—she would never go trashy.
Heirloom Galerie is now open for viewing and YOU are officially invited!
