Tabo Bah: Does the Fried Samcan Live up to its Hype?

Another time, another place, another quest for a happy meal. Okay, that came out wrong. Scratch McDonald’s off your head. We’ve got something a little (okay, a whole lot) better. On our way home from the airport, we regretted not grabbing a bite earlier so we decided to take the next exit to Pantai Indah Kapuk, at which we all know, the last thing they’re out of is food. While faced with a bounty of diner choices, upon a good word from my brother, Tabo Bah, a Batak restaurant, became our number one pick. The interior is rather plain and unadorned, but the food is something else entirely. Samcan Goreng (Fried 3-layered pork) | 33K (top left) The famed fried samcan, fried to a golden brown perfection. Bubur Ayam (Chicken Porridge) | 33K (top right) Savory porridge with chicken, mushrooms, and scallions. Rendang Babi (Pork Rendang) | 25K Rendang’s main ingredient usually comes from a cow.
