High Tea at Cacaoté with Bio-Oil: Discover Your Happy Skin

Today’s afternoon tea get-together was organized by Bio-Oil, a skincare product specialized in clearing out the appearance of scars and stretch marks, skin issues with which women are unceasingly in battle (some more than others). Boasting a record of being the number one specialized skincare product for treating scars and stretch marks in 17 countries, in addition to 191 international awards since its launch in 2002, Bio-Oil also claims to take care of yet other skin “concerns” among women: aging, dryness, and unevenness (yes, the bottomless pit of issues!) To complement the topic of beauty, we were joined by the lovely Ratna Somantri, Founder of Komunitas Pecinta Teh (Tea Lover Community) and Head of Promotion of the Indonesian Tea Board, who shared not only her fondness for tea, but also tips on how to properly store, brew, and enjoy different kinds of tea. And while she did, we lady-likely sipped from our hot cup of Chamomile. To further champion Bio-Oil’s campaign “Hello Happy Skin,” Spokesperson Tiara Dwijayanti Lestari, joined by Product Manager Nurhayatini, gave us insight on the …

Dill Gourmet Cafe New Year’s Feast: A New Concept and Menu

You probably know Dill Gourmet Cafe to be, well, a cafe. Think coffee and cake. During our last visit, we had some light bites from the sandwich, pizza, pasta, and cake selection. And when I say light, I mean it. But with the new year, Dill is rebranding and revamping its concept from cafe to casual dining, which means a whole lot more selection of mains that will actually fill you up. Oh before I get too excited and forget, we got to take home these almond chocolate chip cookies as a favor, and boy were they a treat! I wiped out the whole can (with a bit of help from three friends) in a day. I regret nothing. You’ve got to get your hands on these! And since they were bite-sized, it didn’t even feel like I was eating anything (ha! the lies I feed myself!). The new Dill features a gourmet market/cafe concept, complete with an inviting display of fresh pressed juices and a handsomely put-together menu. The first thing on my table: the …

Island Creamery Celebrates a Month of Sweet and Savory Desserts

Calling all ice cream lovers, sweet toothers, whatever you call yourselves – Island Creamery offers unique concoctions blending the sweet and savory to challenge your palate to a whole lot of happiness! Get your taste buds ready for some fun!  Today, we are sampling 3 different desserts: The Lightning Rod Sundae, Secret Pop! Sundae, and The Elvis Milkshake. All 3 were individually cooked up to create a unique flavor, crunch, and interpretation. Drooling? We won’t judge. The Lightning Rod Sundae Island Creamery’s signature walnut brownie topped off with a scoop of Chocolate Peanut Butter ice cream, chocolate fudge, and salted pretzel sticks. I enjoy the blend opposites of hot and cold in desserts. So it’s no surprise that the marriage of sweet and savory made me happy. The 2 sundaes, albeit different, shared a parallel character in that there is not only creaminess involved, but a whole lot of different texture, crunch, and aroma. The brownie, nuts, and pretzel sticks in the Lightning Rod Sundae paired well with the rich chocolate ice cream, as did the caramel popcorn and bacon …

Bobobobo & Friends Gathering at Kogi Kogi

At last night’s lively menu preview event co-hosted by Kogi Kogi and Bobobobo, I met lots of lovely and food-adoring people. Korean food lovers – take heed! Kogi Kogi, literally meaning “meat meat,” offers a brand new dining concept clear of the conventional mammoth exhaust pipes! Yes, BBQ is still the star of the show, but even better–it’s all you can eat! So go ahead, enjoy all the Bulgogis and Galbis to your heart’s content! And as for you vegetarians, there is, too, plenty of greens to go around, along with a selection of dressings to pair with. According to its proud owners, the distinguishing factor behind Kogi Kogi’s concept in comparison with other Korean restaurants in town is their high quality food and affordable price. As we all have experienced, Korean food in Jakarta tends to fall into two extremes: premium quality at premium price, and low quality at low price. Now, that’s the gap Kogi Kogi is trying to bridge. As for the ingredients and cooking methods, Kogi Kogi owners tell us all vegetables are organic …

Open Door Blogger Brunch Preview

When one door closes, another… Open the door to Open Door! Officially open today, Open Door is a brand new trendy place to keep you looking and feeling young and hip. At last Saturday’s Blogger Brunch Preview, a congregation of us food devotees, eager to meet, greet, and eat, got a taste of what makes Open Door the next most happening pad in West Jakarta. Located within the compounds of the Royal Mediterania Garden Residence, Open Door is unmissable (see detailed directions below). The design is dominated by a tasteful blend of recycled wood and metal, shaping up to look and feel like a well put together warehouse. The atmosphere is casual, a place to enjoy with good company. With two al fresco dining areas, you have the option of being inside and out. While the sizeable anterior area is furnished with dining tables and chairs, the posterior houses bar tables and a ping pong table (how fun is that!). Perhaps they’d host a beer pong throwdown? I’d be in. The menu has a decent …

Woodstone Eatery Media and Blogger Gathering

If you haven’t heard of Woodstone Eatery on Senopati, it’s because it hasn’t officially opened yet. But don’t worry, you are still welcome to enjoy it, just note that the menu may still get a tweak here and there. On Thursday October 10, Woodstone hosted a media and blogger gathering in conjunction with the opening of Espa, a city spa with its signature Babor and taditional treatments for customers who are looking for a relaxing retreat after work. As if a spa and a cafe in one building weren’t enough, the Woodstone Eatery offers a salon dining concept, in which the dining area is one with a furniture shop. Diners can enjoy a cup of tea while admiring unique designs for the home and getting a streetview of the bustling Senopati. As co-owner Isabelle tells it, she and her sister initially thought of creating this one-stop spot for themselves–a quiet place at which they could have meetings with clients and friends. And every meeting point needs something beyond chairs and tables, right? So a menu offering sandwiches, Indonesian and American favorites, cupcakes, cakes, and …

Shopdeca’s First Blogger Event and Contest

Shopdeca is an online curated lifestyle and fashion store offering a variety of goods from clothings, bags, shoes, and jewelry to books, electonics, pillows, and plenty of other lifestyle items. Launched earlier this year, Shopdeca is quickly making its way to the hearts of shoppers who love scouting for products that are not only functional, but also uniquely designed and packaged. At the first blogger event hosted a Pong Me! Lounge in South Jakarta, Shopdeca introduced its dynamic team made up of creative minds and its premium selection of goods including its best sellers. The event kicked off with a friendly game of ping pong (great choice of venue, by the way), followed by a buffet (of course), and a whole lot of chit chatting and getting to know one another. I was thrilled to meet everyone–the team, bloggers, and the brilliant designers of some of the best selling goods on Shopdeca. An absolute inspiration for me! Among the wide selection of goods showcased at the event, I had my eye on several. But my favorite …
